Neighbourhood transformer

This research project investigated co-creation and socio-technical innovations in social housing neighbourhoods in the city of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Housing corporation Woonbedrijf had initiated and coined the so-called ‘Neighbourhood Transformation’ approach as a socially innovative approach to make homes and neighbourhood more sustainable, taking energy efficiency improvements as a starting point. This approach aimed to use deep renovation and energy efficiency improvements as a starting point for a governance process aimed at continuous improvement, whereby neighbourhood residents become increasingly involved as committed, knowledgeable, responsible and capable citizens. The aim of the research project was to conduct research, evaluate interventions and provide advice and assistance to Woonbedrijf in its efforts at developing and using the Neighbourhood Transformation approach.
